DOES NETWORK TV HAVE A DOUBLE STANDARD?

Samantha Bee has come under fire after taking aim at Ivanka Trump in the Wednesday night episode of her TBS show, “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.” Specifically, Bee used a very harsh word to describe Ms. Trump on her show - the "c-word."

During a rant about President Trump's immigration policies, Bee offered, quote - "One mother to another: Do something about your dad's immigration practices you feckless (expletive).” The backlash was swift - and she soon apologized.

"I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night," Bee said via Twitter. "It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it." TBS has also apologized and in a statement notes, "Those words should not have been aired. It was our mistake too, and we regret it.”

So far Bee has lost one “Full Frontal” sponsor, AutoTrader.com, that describe her comments as “offensive and unacceptable and do not reflect the views of our company.” TBS has also removed the clip from YouTube. by the way, her show is TAPED in advance, so the poor judgement extends far past Samantha Bee.

So, Bee keeps her job but Rosanne loses her show...is that a network double standard. I don't think so. Rosanne comparing a person of color to an ape is racism 101. Bee's use of the C word is just vile....but I think FULL FRONTAL should have been bounced too. Time to set some sort of standard.
