Just one-third of Americans can pass the U.S. citizenship test that's given to immigrants who want to become Americans, and among those 45 years old and younger, it's only 19 percent, according to a new survey from the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation. Among the results:
72 percent either incorrectly identified or were unsure of the 13 original states.Only 24 percent could correctly identify one thing Benjamin Franklin is famous for, and 37 percent believed he invented the lightbulb.12 percent incorrectly thought World War Two General Dwight Eisenhower led troops in the Civil War.60 percent didn’t know which countries the U.S. fought in World War Two.57 percent didn't know how many justices serve on the Supreme Court.Only 13 percent knew when the U.S. Constitution was ratified.2 percent said the Cold War was caused by climate change.
