State Senator Alleges Retaliation

(Providence, RI)  --  A Rhode Island state senator is suing the city of Providence for alleged retaliation.  Ana Quezada claims in a federal lawsuit that she was suspended from her city housing inspector position but was not given an explanation.  She said the action came after she called out alleged discrimination in promotion practices against an Hispanic worker while Quezada acted as a steward for a labor union.  Quezada's suit says the city Building Department fosters an environment of discrimination against minorities and actively discourages complaints about how they are treated.
