Judge Sides With Hasbro In Game Of Life Dispute

(Providence, RI)  --  A federal judge is siding with Hasbro in a dispute over who invented the Game of Life board game.  A federal lawsuit was filed in 2015 by the heirs of toy developer Bill Markham claiming he did not get enough credit or money for helping to update a 19th century precursor of the game invented by Milton Bradley the man, for Milton Bradley the company.  Hasbro acquired Milton Bradley and the Game of Life in 1984.  The Providence Journal reports U.S. District Judge William Smith issued a decision on Friday saying Markham was hired to work on the game and that the copyright in a "work for hire" case does not belong to the worker.
