You Can Now Text 911 For Help In Rhode Island

(Providence, RI)--Texting 911 is now an option in Rhode Island.Officials announced the launch of the service on Tuesday for anyone who is unable to call 911 by phone. The message being shared is to call 911 if you can, and text if you can't, as calling is still the preferred method of contact due to it being faster and more efficient.A state lawmaker had introduced a bill last month to establish the system, noting it had just been made available in neighboring Massachusetts.
