(Newport, RI)--The Newport Historic District Commission is rejecting plans for Salve Regina University's plan to construct a new dormitory.The Newport Daily News reports the commission decided last week that the proposed 196-student dorm was too large and was therefore out of character for the historic district in which it would have been located.Salve Regina is filing an appeal with the city's zoning board of review.
