Governor Signs Special Protections Order For Hospitals

Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee has signed an executive order that grants special liability protection to hospitals.

The order says hospitals and workers are not liable for civil damages that are sought for patient care if such care has been affected by staffing and/or supply shortages.

The Providence Journal reports former Rhode Island governor Gina Raimondo signed a similar order at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, but it lapsed in August.
