Residents of a Cranston apartment complex have been displaced after their building was condemned by flooding damage.
The Dean Estates on Oaklawn Avenue had dealt with persistent flooding problems for a decade, and Sunday's storm was the straw that broke the camel's back. At least two-dozen units were deemed uninhabitable.
A fire also struck the complex on Monday.
The American Red Cross has stepped in to help the displaced tenants, and the company that manages the apartment is planning to reimburse their September rent.
Meantime, in Providence 25 people had to be rescued from cars stuck in high food waters in the Branch Avenue area. Despite the relative high numbers of rescues, fire officials report there were no injuries.
It is unclear what the dollar amount of the damage in the area will be.
