Providence Rents Continue To Skyrocket

Skyrocketing rent prices in Providence are going up more than anywhere else in the U.S.

The October Rent Report by online real estate company Zillow finds rents in Providence have shown the nation's biggest jump over the past year.

The average rent in Providence is two-thousand-74 dollars a month, 63 dollars higher than the national average.

Rhode Island Housing Secretary Stefan Pryor calls the numbers a "dubious distinction" and points out that rents are shooting up all over New England.

Pryor said Hartford has the second-highest rate of increase and Boston is seventh.
