A fiscal clerk for a Newport County community has been arrested.
State police say Rachel Bruno of Little Compton is accused of embezzlement and fraudulent conversion.
The 31-year-old Bruno reportedly admitted to investigators that she failed to process a resident's tax payment of just under 11-hundred-dollars.
That resident learned in August the payment, which was in cash, had not gone through.
Bruno is free on a thousand dollars' personal recognizance bail until her next appearance in court in February 2024.
