Brown University is considering changes to Title Six and other policies.
The Brown Daily Herald reports a letter dated November 7th from Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Catherine Lhamon says schools are obliged to address discrimination on campus, with the letter noting acts of antisemitism and Islamophobia.
Title Six of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 bars discrimination based on race, color, and national origin in any activity or program that receives federal assistance.
Speaking at a faculty meeting Tuesday, university president Christina Paxson says the school will determine if changes need to be made.
Brown is also set to release a new guide today on cyberbullying, doxing, and online harassment.
