State Ready For Winds And Rains Ahead Of Holiday Travel

A major storm is expected to bring heavy rains and high winds across Southern New England.

Flood watches and high wind warnings are up through this evening, with coastal flood warnings up through this afternoon.

The winds could gust as high as 65 miles per hour, especially on the coast, where tides are expected to be one to two feet higher than normal.

While temperatures will largely be in the fifties, the rains will lead to flooding around the Providence metro area, as well as Providence, Kent, and Bristol Counties.

Between 2 and 4 inches of rain are expected in some sections.
