New Sidewalk Replacement Program Considered In Providence

A City Council committee has approved an amended ordinance that could create a new sidewalk program for Providence.

The Committee on Ordinances this week made changes that may allow for a 50/50 Sidewalk Program. Eligible residents and commercial property owners would split the cost of sidewalk removal and replacement up to five thousand dollars.

Anything beyond that figure, the property owner will pay the difference.

The program would be funded with one million dollars of capital improvement money.

The full City Council must approve the measure.
