A bear that outsmarts humans

Only in RI: Do we have a bear that outsmarts humans

A black bear is on the loose in RI. Traps of Allie's doughnuts and fresh meat were set but the bear was too smart! Eating the food left and avoiding the traps! Maybe we should see if this bear is up to running for office here in RI, Chafee may have some competition soon!
Are we all clear on the definition of cronyism, or no?

Only in RI: Do we not know the definition of cronyism
Are we all clear on the definition of cronyism, or no?
cro·ny·ism [kroh-nee-iz-uh m] –noun A) the practice of favoring one's close friends, esp. in political appointments. B)the practice of appointing friends to high-level, esp political, posts regardless of their suitability
Dear Lincoln Chafee, Didn't you say that cronyism was one of the A-B-C's you were trying to avoid as the new governor? Then did you not name political insider and family friend Former Democratic Lt. Gov. Richard A. Licht as director of administration? Oh, okay.. maybe we don't all have the same understanding of the word cronyism.
We're already 10ft under, should we keep digging?

Only in RI: Would we give businesses another fee!
We're already 10ft under, should we keep digging?

How much more taxes and fee's can we put on business owners? How are we supposed to get ourselves out of a recession if we are suffocating the suppliers with fee's!? Small businesses are the back bone of this state, if they die out.. there goes the whole state.
Oh beloved state officials, you raise me up
Monday 11-08-2010 8:09am ET
Only in Rhode Island ... do we give state officials a 10 percent raise following an election defined by fighting unemployment and balancing the budget

The five top state officers are getting raises before they even assume office. The governor, AG, Lt. governor, secretary of state, and treasurer are all getting 9.67 percent raises that reflect changes in the Consumer Price Index for the Northeast. These fantastic five are scheduled raises every four years, so any skeptics can rest assured that these raises coming right after the election of a man who campaigned on raising taxes is merely coincidence.
Rhode Islanders: log on to your Netflix account. Rent Network. Watch it. Listen to Howard Beale. Get mad. Regret that you did not do more to vote all the bums out in the General Assembly. Become politically active. Look up the definition of apathy. Do the opposite of what the definition says. Have a voice. Thank me.
Move over Coffee Milk and Dels!

Only in RI: Do we have a new drink
Move over Coffee Milk and Dels!

You thought you loved RI's little treasure’s such as a delicious Dels or a ice cold Coffee Milk? Well step aside mediocre beverages! The "blackout can" is in town! This powerful beverage is a combination of caffeine and alcohol that sent several students to the hospital during a concert at URI a few weeks ago. This becoming infamous drink is called "Four Loko", drink with caution!
I promise to ruin everything, Please elect me!
Thursday 11-04-2010 9:21am ET
Only in RI: Would we willing elect someone into office promising to raise taxes and make things more difficult for us
I promise to ruin everything, Please elect me!

RI what happened!? Out of every candidate we elect Chafee? He was the only one in the whole race that was a definite no! Where do we go from here? Let's keep fighting, we have four years of fighting now.
Bad press? Or no press?
Tuesday 11-02-2010 9:51am ET
Is bad press really better than no press at all?
Only in RI: Do we make news for all the wrong reasons

Rhode Island lately has seemed like the center of politics lately. With so many politicians coming through and rallying for our candidates. Plus all the national news our state has been making. But leave it to RI for making the news for one of our gubernatorial candidates telling our President to "shove it" One day we will make news for something respectable and productive... we hope.
Boyz will be boyz ...
Monday 11-01-2010 8:38am ET
Only in Rhode Island ... do police officials try to shrug off violent gang stabbings in the capital city's upscale mall

Knives brandished at the Providence Place mall this weekend weren't just Halloween props: three teen gang mambers were stabbed by rival gang members following confrontations between the Asian Boyz and the Hanover Boyz.
police and mall officials, however, were quick to say the attacks were "These are chance encounters with very immature people who act irresponsibly," according to Maj. Thomas F. Oates III, commander of the detective division.
“We came into the mall and we saw our enemies," one of the boyz said.
Yep, with 15-year-olds seeing their enemies in the mall and immediately reaching for their weapons, the mall is completely safe.
Is that a subliminal?

Only in RI: Do we debut tubeless toilet paper
Is that a subliminal?

Only in RI do we choose to display this genius invention of tubless toilet paper. Is it because RI is going down the toilet itself? Thanks Scott Tissue!
